Frontline and Phantom are ahead of schedule! They should arrive here later this week! We’ve added the initial rulebooks for… Down In Flames – Guns Blazing Down In Flames – Locked-On We’ve found that when creating the rulebook for a follow-on game in a series, it is best to start with the core game’s rulebook. This minimizes the chances of mistakes, and keeps wording consistent. It also presents the information in a familiar format and allows for better comprehension. Next to the Printer We are sending one game to the printer in a couple months. The possible choices are: Guns Blazing, Locked-On, Hornet Leader, or Modern Land Battles. Each game needs 250 pre-orders to go to the printer. Whichever game receives 250 pre-orders first gets to go. The others will follow later. Each game’s product page lists the number of pre-orders gathered by the game. If you are interested in any of those games, pre-order now and pass the word to your friends. 02-10-2010 A Big update this week! – We’ve updated most of the game sup for pre-order, and added a new one! This is our last company update before the holidays. We wish all of you the best. It has been a great year for DVG. Our line of games has grown, sales are up, and we have made some great friends around the world. There is a great Field Commander Alexander review on BGG… Boardgamegeek 12-12-2009 A word about pre-orders… The pre-order system is a vital part of a strategy game company’s business model. Without pre-orders, most companies would be hard-pressed to bring a game to market. For small companies like DVG, it would be worse than hard-pressed, it would be impossible. We recently ended the pre-order cycle for Frontline and Phantom Leader. We then charged the credit card pre-orders from the past 9 months. We usually have 10% of the charges declined. We then contact the customers and ask them to re-pre-order with revised credit card information. Roughly, half do, and the other half don’t. I must admit, I was worried when we charged the cards this time. Let’s face it, the economy has been bad for all of us, plus its holiday time when money is even tighter. I was fully expecting to see one declined charge after another. I want to thank all of you who pre-ordered, because I got an early Christmas present this year. Against all anticipation, the number of declined cards were down, and the number of people who then re-pre-ordered was up. When the dust cleared, all (ALL!) the Phantom pre-orders were successful, and only three (3!) of the Frontline pre-orders failed. Thank you all for a very Merry Christmas! -------------------------------------------------------- Wow, a new cycle of games is starting! In this cycle we’re moving forward with Down In Flames – Guns Blazing (WWII), Down In Flames – Locked-On (Jets), and Modern Land Battles (well, er… modern). New Guns Blazing Slideshow! New Locked-On Slideshow! Modern Land Battles Rules – Early Draft! Looking forward, we’re going to be announcing 3 new games for pre-order in the coming weeks… Field Commander Napoleon The 3rd installment in our Field Commander series, and a huge game. It will have 6 mounted maps and span Napoleon’s entire career. Here’s the game box, courtesy of Wan…
Hornet Leader – Carrier Air Operations One of the most demanded games to get into print is the Hornet Leader II series. This game will include the material from Hornet Leader II, Carrier Air Group, Cold War, Marine Air, plus new material. It will be a huge box with over 300 cards. Wan has been kind enough to create an ad to get the ball rolling…
Vendetta Our first venture into the Euro/Mass Market! A “Family” card game. It's a card game for 2 to 6 players. Each player plays a mob boss trying to take over the top spot in New York City. The game is designed to be a low complexity family game and takes about 45-60 minutes to play. The tone is very light and very socially interactive. The goal is to take control of different places and people in the "Neighborhood". As you do so, you gain reputation. The first player to reach the reputation goal wins. Here's the cool part of the game... The cornerstone to the game is the "Vendetta" mechanic. If I take control of the local Delicatessen, I get some Reputation points. If you then come and Whack (destroy) the Deli, you take the Reputation points I gained from controlling Deli. But wait! There's more! When you Whack my Deli, you must give me some of your Vendetta counters. The specific number is noted on the Deli card. If I attack you in the future, I can spend your Vendetta counters to pump up my attack against your places and people. So, the more you Whack a player, the more bonuses they have in the future to Whack you back. This does 2 cool things. First, you get the whole "Grudge" or "Now it's personal" aspect of mob warfare. Second, even if a player gets Whacked hard, he still has the resources to make a comeback. Which means until a player wins, everyone has a shot at winning. The design came together very fast, and the artist, Jerry, is doing a great job of capturing the light feel we're going for. Here’s the current box cover…

If you’d like to purchase some of these, enter the coupon code: 86068 to receive a 25% discount. 09-10-2009 PHANTOM LEADER New Rules Update! Phantom is shaping-up to be a great Leader game. I’d say the best in the series so far. You’ll get far more strategy options in this game than ever before. Not only do you get to decide on Low Altitude or High Altitude strikes, close-range and long-range attacks, you also have new choices for your Special Options points. In past games, you could choose from different high-tech weapons. In Phantom, you still have the weapons to choose from, but there are campaign and mission altering choices, such as: Start of the campaign pilot promotions to give you a more experienced squadron, Tanker priority so you don’t have a Weight Point limitation on the mission, R&R priority to give your pilots a much needed break in the middle of the campaign, etc. There are also little flavor bits. The BLU-1’s (napalm bombs) are a great example. Napalm is an effective weapon, but it also has a stigma attached to it. In the game, Napalm has some great attack numbers versus soft targets, but if you use it during a mission, you take a hit to your Political track, which will limit your future target choices. If you’ve pre-ordered Phantom and would like your name to appear on the game boxes, copy/paste your name into the following statement: “I give permission to print my name on the Phantom Leader game boxes.” FRONTLINE Wan has updated the box cover, and it looks amazing! v PRE-ORDER NUMBERS A few pre-orders have come in since last week, but not as many as we’d like. If you’re on the fence about Frontline or Phantom, this is the time to pre-order! BATTLE DAMAGED GAMES SALE We have some Down In Flames, Rommels, and Alexanders that have warped boxes. We are almost ready to switch from outline format to rulebook format. Tanks! The newest AAR features tanks and anti-armor weapons! We’ve updated the Frontline slideshow. PRE-ORDER NUMBERS We’ve also updated the pre-order numbers! Frontline and Phantom are getting close! BATTLE DAMAGE SALE! In the flavor of D(VG)-Day, we’re having a “Battle Damage” Sale. Sometimes games arrive from the printer with warped or creased boxes. The contents are fine, but the damage to the box makes them unsellable. If you’d like to purchase one of these games, place an order as normal. When you Check-Out, enter the Coupon Code: 86068. Click the submit button, and you’ll see the 25% discount appear with your order’s financial information to the right. We only have about 10 to 20 copies of each game with Battle Damage. If you do not see the Coupon Code on the Check-Out page, the offer has ended because all of the damaged games have already been claimed. This offer cannot be used with Pre-Order games or Vassal/PDF Games since they do not have Damaged boxes. 06-29-2009 D(VG)-DAY takes a huge leap forward! FRONTLINE… Ever since announcing Frontline we have been receiving requests to post an After Action Report (AAR). We have now assembled and uploaded one! This small battle does a great job of showing the flexibility, options, and player decision-making inherent in the system. The battle includes small arms, a machine gun section, and a mortar section. The battle runs smoothly and quickly while the sections move, shoot, and sustain damage. Please check it out! We have also added a page illustrating the cool new terrain/range mechanics we’ve created for Frontline. The updated slideshow shows off some of Wan’s new artwork for German soldiers and Terrain cards. The rules have also been updated. We’ve added more rule sections along with details for cards and counters. PHANTOM LEADER… Phantom Leader has also gotten some love! We’ve uploaded a detailed AAR of a USAF strike mission to take out a nest of SA-2s up north. We’ve added the back cover, and it looks awesome! The rules have also been updated. We are on track to get them to the printer this summer! 06-06-2009 ![]() Announcing June 6th, 2009 as being D(VG)-Day! June 6th, 1944 was one of the most important battles of WWII as 2 great armies met in combat. June 6th, 2009 starts the pre-order battle to send two great games to the printer: Frontline D-Day and Phantom Leader. Each week, we will release new information for these games until victory is assured and the printing presses are rolling! The Frontline rules have gone through another generation of updates. They are still in rough outline form, but many more rules have been added to fill out the sections. We’ve also updated the Frontline slideshow with new soldier and vehicle cards! Also added are the Phantom Leader rules. They are much farther along than the Frontline rules, but they still have a ways to go. There are still many blank spots where graphics will be added. We had a great time at the Memorial Day Los Angeles game convention last weekend. We were very excited to be their Guest of Honor. Eric Burgess was kind enough to invite Dan to be part of a podcast discussing game design theory and operating a game company. Here are the links to the podcast streaming from BGG… Boardgamegeek and Eric’s web site, Boardgame Babylon… Boardgame Babylon A few people have reported problems seeing the web site. The web guys have made some updates and I know there has been some success. If you’re receiving this as part of our newsletter or posting on a web site and have had problems, please give it another try and let me know if you still see a blank page. Jesse Cheng, our demo Team Leader, ran a hugely successful week of demos and games at Consimworld’s Expo this past week. He manned the DVG booth, demoed games, and introduced many new people to our games. Many thanks Jesse! If you have an interest in demoing our games, please contact us and we’ll put you in contact with Jesse. Christopher "Kozure" Ono will be running a DIF tournament on Saturday, June 27th. Thank you Christopher! Here’s a link for details… Boardgamegeek 05-21-2009 Lots of updates! An updated Down In Flames Jets slideshow with some cool new aircraft. An updated Phantom Leader Tactical Sheet. An updated Phantom Leader slideshow. We’ve also uploaded a revised Alexander player log with a new track for recording other Battle Plan uses. Many thanks to Bob Leonhard for sending in a great Field Commander Rommel AAR. A hugely updated Frontline slideshow! We’re launching an experiment in game publishing. We’ve posted the first text applied to paper (well, pixels applied to screen, to be completely accurate) for the Frontline rules. We thought it would be interesting for everyone to follow the process of how a rulebook starts, takes shape, and is finalized. Every game company does things differently, but for us, a game goes through so many early changes that we don’t bother with a rulebook until the game solidifies. This first draft is only a partial outline, but this is how it starts. Up until this point in the design process, the game’s “rules” are scribbled on crumpled napkins, sheets of notebook paper, and mostly kept in our heads. Many rule sections have started life on the back of a McDonald’s tray liner during lunch. 05-06-2009 Lots of updates this week! We have an updated slideshow for Frontline showing the latest soldier cards. The slideshow for Down In Flames Jets has been updated. As well as the slideshow for Phantom Leader. Great news! Due to your support we just placed reorders for Field Commander Rommel, Down In Flames Aces High, and Field Commander Alexander! We’re expecting the new print runs to arrive in early July. If you’d to buy any of these games, please order now. We only have a few copies of each game in stock. We’ve added several support pages for your Alexander Immortality rankings. The first is the turn log we used during playtest to record actions and choices. There is also a sample page filled out showing how it all works. We’ve also started adding player submitted Immortality scores and summaries. If you’d like yours posted, please send them in! We’ve also added a few more stores on to our store locator. 04-25-2009 We’re going to add an Alexander bragging rights page if there is interest. Send me an email (dan (at) dvg (dot) com) with the Immortality points you earned in each of the 4 campaigns and we’ll post your name and scores. If you’d like to include a write-up of your campaigns, we’ll post that as well. Feel free to send us anything from sentences to pages. The Phantom Leader slideshow has been updated to include Bandit and Site counters. Ray Mulford was nice enough to send us an idea for Alexander. He suggested adding a Temple Tactic Track to the player log sheet. Instead of using a die to track Fate, you can move the Fate counter along the track. We’ve uploaded the log sheet. We’ve added a few new stores to our Retail Locator. Please keep them coming! 04-12-2009 “Great” News! Alexander the Great has galloped victoriously into Glendora astride Bucephalus! We will begin packing and shipping games as fast possible. They should all be in the mail by Monday or Tuesday. A few people have emailed us to say our site is just showing up as a plain white page in IE and Firefox. Many thanks to Howard who discovered that the Safari web browser can see our site. http://www.apple.com/safari/ Game updates… Update to the Phantom Leader slide show and text. We’ve added a few counters to the slide show to show off the new 3D weapon art. The USAF Rolling Thunder campaign sheet has also been updated. The aircraft list and campaign list has been revised. Update to DIF-Jets slideshow with new aircraft and action cards. Frontline is almost ready for a big update. Once the Alexander’s are out the door, we’ll be ready to post an update. Pre-Order update… Pre-order numbers have been updated. Good news: DIF-Guns Blazing, DIF-Jets, Phantom Leader, Frontline, and Modern Land Battles are all about 100 to 150 pre-orders away from going to the printer. If you have an interest in these games, please pre-order. It would be great to have one or two of these games go to the printer by summer! 03-31-2009 We are pleased to announce the world of Down In Flames has expanded into the Jet era! This week we have launched Down In Flames – Locked-On for pre-order. The game will span from the Korean War to modern day. Locked-On includes everything from the F-86 Sabre to the F-22 Raptor. Jets has all the DIF upgrades and improvements found in Aces High and Guns Blazing, and adds missile combat! We have also added a few more aircraft and target cards to the Phantom Leader slideshow. We have added a couple more retail stores to our retail locator list. If you know of any stores that sell our games, send us their contact information and we’ll add them. The second half of the Modern Land Battles turn has also been added. Nice demonstration of the firepower of the M1 Abrams and MLRS! We received a huge email from Arnauld Della Siega. He has provided French translations for updated Rommel rules, the Alexander rules, and the Alexander Player Log. Thank you Arnauld! A few people have reported having problems viewing the site. They have been able to see it one day, but the next, it only appears as a blank white screen. We are looking into it, but if you’re a web guru and know what the issue might be, please email us. 03-17-2009 Epic News! We have finalized an agreement with Decision Games that returns all the rights to two of our game series: Air Leader and Down In Flames Jets. Both of these properties are long time favorites of the gaming community dating back to the early 1990s. We are wasting no time in getting them into production! We have added Phantom Leader to our list of pre-order games this week. Next week, we’ll add Down In Flames Jets. We have also added a couple new cards to the Down In Flames Gun Blazing slideshow. We’re also closing in on the campaigns. The campaign list was updated. A detailed Down In Flames Aces High campaign AAR has also been added! We’ve received news from the printer that Alexander might arrive a few days early. We are now looking at the first few days of May for its delivery! 03-11-2009 Great News! Down In Flames Aces High has been extremely well received. We are now ready to announce a new Down In Flames game, “Guns Blazing”! Gun Blazing is a stand-alone game featuring new aircraft, new campaigns, and action cards that depict the new aircraft in all their dog fighting glory. There are 2 pre-order options, one for the game, and one for the game plus a bonus set of cards for people who want to play monster air battles. We have also uploaded a sample game and new slideshow for Modern Land Battles. Please take a look. The game is only about 100 pre-orders from going to the printer! Field Commander Alexander is still on schedule to arrive in early May. We’ve also added some new entries to our blog. 03-07-2009 We just updated the Modern Land Battles slideshow, and added the start of a sample game for your review. 03-04-2009 News on a few different games this time… We just uploaded the Down In Flames Player Log Sheet. You can use this as needed to record your campaign games. A generic Down In Flames Campaign sheet has also been added. It is in Word format, and you can use it to create your own campaigns. If you make some that you want to share, please send them in! Also added are Down In Flames Optional Rules and FAQ. If you have any ideas for optional rules, please send them in! As a special bonus, we received a few uncut card sheets for Down In Flames from the printer. This new item has been added to our list of games. Felipe Santamaría was kind enough to translate the Alexander rules into Spanish and they have been added to the Alexander section. Thank you Felipe! Research has started on Field Commander Napoleon and I am working on the map for the Italian campaigns. We should have Napoleon ready to accept pre-orders in a week or two. We’ve continued to add entries to our blog. At present, it is covering the design of Napoleon, with other random bits thrown in from time to time. 02-12-2009 A few great news items… Down In Flames has arrived and is shipping! All the games should be in the mail on Tuesday. There is already a great AAR posted on BGG… http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/380857 Alexander is at the printer and we should have games in early May! 02-02-2009 Big milestones this week… Down In Flames will arrive from the printer in a few days! We’re in the final days of Alexander prep for the printer! The newest and final Alexander rules have just been uploaded to the web site. If you happen to seen any problems, please let us know in the next 24 hours. Also, If you want to pre-order and get your name on the box, please do so in the next 24 hours. The next game in the primary design slot is Frontline, and we’ll be posting updates soon. The next Field Commander game will be Napoleon, but the commander for game #4 in the series has not been decided. I’ve started a Poll on www.boardgamegeek.com in their General Gaming section. If you’d like to place a vote, we’d like to hear your opinion. Also, we’re looking for after action reports and reviews of Rommel and Modern Naval Battles to post both on the DVG site and Board Game Geek. If you’d like to write one, we’d love to see it. I’d also like to put in a good word for Ragnarok. I think with some of our other “bigger” titles, this one is easy to overlook. This is a fun game that is not only a great card game, but also the perfect game to play with your non-gamer friends and family. 2 to 6 players can play in under an hour. An added bonus for our international friends is Ragnarok is language independent. The cards use symbols and numbers, not words, for all game information. How many other games allow you to walk around as Thor, calling down lightning bolts while you smash your foes flat with your mighty hammer? I also really like the artwork! 01-20-2009 A brief update this time. We have received the final cover art for Ragnarok, and it looks great! Final file prep is underway for Alexander. This is the last chance to pre-order. If you've pre-ordered and would like to have your name printed on the box, please send in your permission statement. The latest, near final Alexander rulebook has been uploaded. If you see any edits or confusing rules, this is the time to email us. 01-11-2009 GREAT NEWS... We just received a couple advanced copies of Down In Flames - Aces High from the printer, and the games look fantastic! The box and rulebook came out great, and the cards look wonderful. The cards are printed on CCG- thickness 350gsm paper with a slick gloss coating. The main shipment will arrive in 3 weeks. We'll then start mailing out all the orders. An updated Alexander box back has been uploaded with some new names. Also, we have updated the Alexander Rule Book. Thank you again to everyone who has contributed edits. The Retail Locator has been updated. 01-04-2009 Happy 2009 to Everyone! We have a bunch of updates for our first News update of the New Year… For Ragnarok, we’ve added a couple more cards to the slideshow, and a sample of play. In the sample you’ll see a mix of near-final cards and playtest art. I created the playtest art to make the cards more interesting to look at while we test. I wanted to post it for everyone to see because I think it’s important to show the fun we have in designing games. My art is goofy, and far from professional, but I hope the sense of fun I had in drawing it comes through. When it comes to publishing games, we do everything we can to make them the best games possible, but we also have a lot of fun along the way. Our thanks go out to everyone who plays our games. Without you, none of this would be possible. We recently reached a very cool DVG milestone. We now have over 1000 people subscribing to our Newsletter! Alexander is coming along very well. We’ve updated the rules and have uploaded the back of the box. If you’ve given your permission to print your name on the box, please take a look and make sure we have your name spelled correctly. With the end of the holiday season, we’ve shut down the links to the Elves Under Hoof game. Many thanks to everyone who downloaded the files and posted comments on consimworld and boardgamegeek. Who knows? Maybe next year we’ll design an Abominable Snowman expansion for the holidays. We’ve also added a new page to the web site, a retail locator. These are retail stores that carry our games. If you know of a store that carries our games, please send us their information and we will add them to the growing list. All we need is their: store name, street address, phone number, and web site (if the have one). 2008 was a tough year for all of us. Our best wishes go out to everyone for a far better 2009! 12-19-2008 Work has focused on finishing Field Commander Alexander. We’ve updated the site with the latest rules and maps. We are on schedule to send the game to the printer at the end of this month. If you have pre-ordered the game and would like your name printed on the box, please paste your name into this statement and email it to me at: dan (at) dvg (dot) com “I, YOUR NAME HERE, give my permission to print my name on the Field Commander Alexander game box.” You can submit one name for each pre-order. We just heard from the printer, and we should be receiving Down In Flames around the middle or end of January. We have received an amazing response to Elves Under Hoof! Thank you to everyone who emailed us, and who have posted their AARs on various sites around the Internet. Who knows, maybe next year we’ll work on an Abominable Snowman expansion. :) Happy Holidays! 12-08-2008 Happy Holidays from DVG! As a special holiday treat, for the next couple weeks we’re offering a free PDF download of our solitaire Elves Under Hoof mini-game. We designed it a few years back, and it’s the perfect game to introduce to your non-gaming friends. Load up on eggnog and cookies, and lead your reindeer to victory! 11-30-2008 We are very pleased to announce a new game available for pre-order, Ragnarok! Ragnarok is designed to be an economical, low complexity card game where people can have fun socializing as they fight fearlessly in the final battle. The artwork by Mike Campeau looks fantastic. He has really captured the heroic, larger than life feel of the Norse gods and their Jotun foes. I really enjoyed watching each piece of artwork take shape from the first pencil sketches to the final draft. I have included the different stages for each art piece in the slideshow. We have also updated the cards featured in the Frontline slideshow. We have also updated Alexander’s Granicus map and rulebook. 11-20-2008 We are very pleased to announce Frontline, a new game for pre-order! Frontline is a very tactical WWII infantry combat card game that takes place during the D-Day invasion and in the months following. The game can be played solitaire, 2 player, and multiplayer. Down In Flames is moving through the printing cycle and we hope to be able to start mailing games in late December or early January. Many thanks to Arnauld Della Siega for sending in a French translation for the Down In Flames rules and example of play! Much appreciation also goes out to Aitor Gonzalez for sending in the Spanish translation of the Modern Naval Battles rules! 10-24-2008 Huge News - Down In Flames has entered the production cycle! We have started the printing process and expect to have game in-hand in about 8 to 10 weeks. Many thanks to everyone who ordered the game and the extra decks. The printer has sent us sample cards, and they look fantastic! We’re going to take a day off, then move on to wrapping up Field Commander Alexander. Our goal is to have Alexander start the printing process in November. We are also collecting artwork for the new batch of games to go up for pre-order, and we will announce them in the coming weeks. 10-15-2008 Thank you to everyone who has sent in their names for the Down In Flames box. We've updated the file with the latest names. 10-13-2008 We would like to announce a FINAL CALL for all Down In Flames Pre-Orders. This is your last chance to get your name printed on the box. Don’t forget, you can also request for someone else’s name to be placed on the box instead of yours. Just email us at dan(at)dvg(dot)com. You get to add one name for each pre-order. You can give permission for us to put your name on a pre-ordered game at the time you place the pre-order. Just type your permission in the comment section: “It is okay to print my name 'insert your name here' on the box for this pre-order.” We are receiving inquiries regarding outside game design submissions. The answer at this time is “Yes”, but just barely. As you know, we are still a new and small company. At this point, it takes our full efforts to design, develop, and finalize games for printing on anything approaching a timely basis. At this time, we do not have the extra manpower needed to develop and finalize outside designs. This leaves all the work up to the designer, but the designer will also receive higher than normal industry compensation. For us to consider adding an outside game to our pre-order system, the game needs to only be a great design, but also fully designed, developed, and have printer-ready files for all the components, rulebook, and packaging. Basically, all we should need to do is promote it, gather pre-orders, and push the giant “Print” button. Here’s why: To get a game 90% complete takes as much time and effort as the last 10%. So even if a “mostly complete” game were submitted to us, it would still require a huge amount of time and effort on our part to complete the project. If you have a print-ready game that you would like to submit to us, the first step is to email us to request an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). Please do this before sending us any material. We cannot legally look at any material until we have an NDA in place. We would also like to give you a quick Sneak Peek at the next games to appear for pre-order… Ragnarok (card game): A multi-player game featuring Norse Gods, giants, mighty foes, and a host of devoted followers at the Final Battle, known as Ragnarok. 2 or more players. Battle for Stalingrad (card game): This game depicts the grueling battle for the vital city of Stalingrad during the harsh Russian winter of 1942-43. Cut-off and far from home, the German army had to secure the city to receive supplies if they were going to survive the winter. Far away in their German and Russian capitals, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin each decided that Stalingrad was not only vital to the war effort but also a national symbol that must be won at all costs. 2 players. 1500 (Euro-style board game): It is the year 1500 and the great powers of Europe have turned their eyes to the new world far across the Atlantic. As a leader of one of those powers, it is up to you to build and maintain successful colonies to make sure that your nation reigns supreme! 2 to 6 players. Front Line (card game): You are the commander of a squad of WWII soldiers. This is a very tactical card game where each card represents one soldier or vehicle. Front Line will combine “card game” fun and simplicity with exciting battlefield tactics. We have already begun working with several artists to make the look and feel for this game realistic and flavorful. Solitaire, 2 player, and multiplayer. 10-01-2008 The past week has been devoted to the campaign section of Down In Flames. The game was ready to send to the printer about a week ago, and then one of those last minute ideas popped-up. This led to some changes and much testing. The bad news is, it pushed the game back a week. The good news is, the fighter/bomber interactions are much better. 09-22-2008 A quick update to let everyone know we’re receiving a revised quote from the printer, so the Down in Flames files will be delayed for a few days. As mentioned in a previous update, the higher pre-order price for Alexander will go into effect on Wednesday. We are expecting the latest print run of Rommels in the next day or two. We’re starting to put together a list of the next games to go up for pre-order. We should be able to announce them in October. We’ve taken a step forward in bulk shipping by opening a FedEx account! This will save us hours at the post office when shipping out the distributor orders. It will also make the post office people and other postal customers much happier. Tying up a post office window for 3 hours at a time did not make anyone happy. :-) 09-16-2008 We've just uploaded the latest Down In Flames rule book to the site. This is pretty much the final version unless we find something major in the next day or two. The plan is to send the Down In Flames files to printer on Monday and charge credit cards. This is the last chance to pre-order. 09-013-2008 The week has been filled with mailing out the new Modern Naval Battles games and final prep to send Down In Flames to the printer. Here are the latest Down In Flames rules. They still need a couple editing passes and final layout nudges, but other than that, they’re ready to go. 09-05-2008 Great news! Modern Naval Battles arrived late afternoon on Friday, September 5th. The glossy cards really bring out the artwork, and they feel smooth to the touch. We jumped into the pack-outs and were able to ship most of the pre-orders on Saturday before the post office closed. The remaining orders will go out on Monday. 09-02-2008 The Down In Flames rulebook is coming along nicely. We still have a couple editing passes and a few more graphics to add, but it’s getting close. If you see any errors, vague points, or omissions, please email us and we will correct the problems. The newest version can be seen here… Modern Naval Battles is scheduled to arrive on Thursday. We’ll begin mailing pre-orders right away, and should have them all in the mail by Friday. Many thanks to everyone who pre-ordered! We also have the latest update to the Alexander game box… …and a few more counters have been added to the slideshow… On the Alexander front, we just received a revised price quote from the printer. On the good side, the game will now feature thick mounted map boards, a bigger box, and thicker counters. On the bad side, their production quote has doubled. We’re going to maintain the original pre-order price for another week or so to give everyone a chance to pre-order at that price. After that, we’ll probably raise the pre-order price to $43.99 because of the huge difference in cost from when the game was originally quoted with paper maps and normal counters. 08-23-2008 This week has been filled with prep for completing Down In Flames. We’re also counting down the days until the Modern Naval Battles games arrive. They should be here in a week or two. We’ve updated the Down In Flames box back to include the newest pre-order names. Thank you for your pre-orders! We’ve also updated the Down In Flames rules and started layout. We’ve uploaded the work in progress. The artwork for Field Commander: Alexander the Great has taken a wonderful leap foreword. Artist, Wan Chiu, has taken the reins and produced a new, exciting, and authentically historical look. We’ve updated the slideshow to give you a sneak peek. Wan will also be updating the Alexander maps and game box. In another bit of exciting Alexander news, the game will include mounted map boards! This will increase the final retail price of the game, but we are keeping the pre-order pricing the same in order to honor our pre-order customer commitment. Thank you for all you support for the Field Commander series. Without your help, none of this would be possible. We are also pleased to add a historical article by Roger Horky covering the pilots of the German Invasion of Poland (one of the Down In Flames campaigns). Roger is a long time Down In Flames fan and has created many campaigns and articles for the original series. We are very happy to have his help with the new series. Thank you Roger! In the Rommel section, we’ve added a FAQ of the questions asked on Board Game Geek. Thank you John Haba for collecting the information! Many thanks to Mark Walker and Lock and Load Games for asking me to participate in an interview for the new issue of their Line of Fire downloadable magazine. I’ve looked through a preview of the issue, and it looks beautiful. Here’s the link to their web site… Link to Lock'n Load We also wanted to mention our Z-Cardz web site. We’ve been running it for a few years, but they are now going out of production. We’ll probably shut down that site in a couple months. We started selling Z-Cards years ago when we designed a game for the Z-Cards production company. The game is now out of print, but we continued selling the product because they are fun. If you have an interest, please take a look. Z-Cardz are small plastic models that slide together to form airplanes, dinosaurs, cars, etc… Link to GamesAhoy 08-07-2008 Most of this past week at DVG has been devoted to finalizing Down In Flames – Aces High. We’re scheduled to send it to the printer in a week or two, so if you’d like to receive the pre-order price and have your name printed on the boxes, please place your order now. If you’d like your name on the boxes, please email us your permission: As an example, your email would read... "Yes, it is okay to print my name, We’ve also updated the campaign sheets for Down In Flames with some additional sheets. We’ve added a few more cards to the Modern Land Battles slide show. The printer confirmed that Modern Naval Battles is on schedule to arrive at the end of this month, and we will be mailing them as soon as we receive the games. The third printing of Rommel is also in production and should arrive at the end of September. Our next big focus will be Alexander. Our goal is to send it to the printer in a month or two. 07-30-2008 A couple new things this week! We’ve added a few more cards to the Modern Land Battles slide show… We’ve also added a Down In Flames link from the main page to a PDF file with a few of its historical campaigns… Great news on the Rommel front! Due to your support, we just placed an order with the printer for its third print run. 07-22-2008 We’ve updated a few of the games this week as work on Down In Flames and Alexander continues… We’ve updated the Modern Land Battles slideshow with new Unit and Action card images. The general look of the card frames is based on the great artwork Martin Scott put together for the Down In Flames cards. For Down In Flames, we’ve uploaded a revised set of rules that includes a first pass at the campaign rules. The goal with the campaigns is to increase decision-making while decreasing randomness and complexity. For Alexander, there is an updated map that is pretty close to done. We’ll be posting other maps soon. Many thanks to Tim Couper for sending in some edits on the Alexander rules, a revised rulebook has been uploaded. The rules still lack graphics, but they will be going in shortly. Also, much appreciation goes out to Arnauld Della Siega for translating the Modern Naval Battles rules into French! 07-15-2008 Greeting from DVG! We’ve been having a very busy summer designing, producing and updating new games. Here’s what we’ve been up to… We are proud to announce our newest game up for pre-order - Modern Land Battles: Target Acquired. It has all the excitement of Modern Naval Battles, with the additional element of being in tanks, charging straight toward your enemy in a hard-hitting game of modern land warfare. We just received the printer proof for Modern Naval Battles and the game looks great! We should be able to start mailing games in about 5 to 6 weeks. Also, you can check out the Down In Flames box back on the site. We are now accepting pre-order names for the sides of the box. Send an email stating that you give permission for DVG to use your name on the box to: dan (at) dvg (dot) com The Field Commander: Alexander the Great rules are now online! The art isn't in yet, but will be added as they are revised. The game is filled with battles, spies, prophecies, and plenty of glory! You’ll notice the similarities of its core rules with Rommel, and the differences made to highlight Alexander's specialties, style of warfare, and time-period. We have a modification on the Pre-Order page. You can now give permission for us to put your name on a pre-ordered game at the time you place the pre-order. Just type your permission in the comment section: “It is okay to print my name 'insert your name here' on the box for this pre-order.” Yay! One stop shopping. We are very grateful and excited to announce an updated set of rules in French for Field Commander Rommel. Arnauld Della Siega has taken the time to update his previously translated rules. We really appreciate your hard work and effort Arnauld to bring Field Commander Rommel to an ever-growing audience! A special Happy Birthday goes out to Rick in South Carolina. If your name is Rick, and you happen live in South Carolina, your dad just MIGHT have gotten you a game which is now on its way. We’ll keep the updates coming. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support! 07-05-2008 A short update this week. The printer is examining the Modern Naval Battles files to make sure they properly set-up for printing. Work continues on Down In Flames and Alexander. We will have updated previews of both games next week. I've updated the Down In Flames and Alexander pre-order numbers. If you've been thinking of pre-ordering these games, this would be a great time. Both games need more pre-orders before going into production. 06-28-2008 Modern Naval Battles is at the printers! We hope to have the shipment of MNB games the first week of August. If you received a 'credit card declined' notice, please re-pre-order in the next day or two and email us to receive the pre-order price. We’ve also made a few really nice additions to the web site. Many thanks to the people who contributed… Arnauld Della Siega was very kind to translate the Rommel rules into French. Rick Yarto deserves a round of applause for creating and sending in the Rommel Battle Summary sheet to record your battle details. For Alexander - An updated map. For Down In Flames - Some damaged-side aircraft cards. For Modern Naval Battles – The final rulebook 06-17-2008 A quick update. All the MNB files are ready to go to the printer, but last second communication delays have set us back a few days. With any luck, the files will be uploaded in a day or two and then our attention will turn to DIF and Alexander. The option to pre-order MNB and have your name printed on the box will remain available until the files are actually sent. 06-08-2008 MNB is in the finishing stages. The cards are finalized. and for this, a major Thank You goes out to Dave Schueler for all his help! The box is finished, except for the adding of new pre-order names, and the rules are pretty much done also. We'll be sending the MNB files to the printer next week, and expect to receive the games at the end of July. We just uploaded the latest MNB rules and box back with the latest pre-order names. In kind of related news, the sales of Rommel's second print run are doing very well. We are considering trying to batch its third print run with the MNB printing. Once MNB is off to the printer, we'll turn our attention to Down In Flames - Aces High with the goal of sending it to the printer in early July. 06-05-2008 The past week has been focused on getting Modern Naval Battles ready for the printer. At this point, we are on schedule to send the files next week. If you’d like to pre-order and have your name printed on the box, please place your pre-order in the next couple days. We’ve uploaded the latest MNB box back and rules file. The rules are pretty much finalized, except for the index. If you see any problems, please email us. Once MNB is wrapped-up, we’ll focus on Down In Flames and Field Commander Alexander. The plan is to have DIF on its way to the printer in early July, and Alexander finalized in early August. We’re in for a busy summer! Many thanks to everyone who has placed an order or pre-order. Without your help, none of these games would be possible. The new print run of Rommels just arrived! All the games ordered since we ran out have been mailed! We've also updated the pre-order count-down numbers. 06-03-2008 The new print run of Rommels just arrived! If you've placed an order since we ran out, your game will be in the mail in the morning. If you'd like to place an order, we will start shipping new orders in about 48 hours. 06-01-2008 We've uploaded the newest MNB rules. Other than the index, these are pretty much final. If you see any problems, let us know. We'll be sending the game to the printer and charging credit card pre-orders in about a week. 05-31-2008 We have updated the Modern Naval Battles - Global Warfare box back to include the names of people who have pre-ordered the game and sent permission to print their names on the box. If you have not yet given permission (and you want your name on the box), please do it soon. Its been a while since some of the MNB-GW pre-orders were placed. Please check your account to make sure your credit card information is up to date. If it is out of date, please update it in the next few days. When we charge the credit cards, if a card fails, I'll check your account information to see if you have entered updated card information. Reminder... If you have pre-ordered the game, you can send me an email if you want your name printed on the box (like we did for Rommel). You can copy/paste the following if you like and insert your own name… I, (insert your name here) give Dan Verssen Games (DVG) permission to print my name on the Modern Naval Battles box. Send your emails to dan (at) dvg (dot) com A few people have asked, yes, if you have ordered multiple copies you can certainly have one name appear for each game you have pre-ordered. Once you have pre-ordered the game, you can send me an email if you want your name printed on the box (like we did for Rommel). You can copy/paste the following if you like and insert your own name… I, (insert your name here) give Dan Verssen Games (DVG) permission to print my name on the Modern Naval Battles box. Send your emails to dan (at) dvg (dot) com We’ve uploaded the newest version of the MNB rules. Please look and send us any comments or questions you might have. This process worked extremely well for the Rommel rules. This is not the final version of the rules, but it is very close. At this point, all the problems should be fixed. If you notice anything wrong (other than the Index), or have a question because a rule is not clear, now is the time to send in your comments. Send your emails to dan (at) dvg (dot) com Notice of price increase: We just received a revised production quote from the printer for MNB, and their price to us has gone up. We’ve thought a lot about it, and we want to be fair to everyone who pre-orders in the future, so we will not be changing the pre-order price. However, the retail price will increase from $39.99 to $49.99 once the game is sent to the printer and the pre-order period ends in 2 or 3 weeks. The second print run of Rommel is due on June 5th. Once they arrive, we’ll ship them out to everyone who is waiting. A few more people sent in optional rule ideas for Rommel, and we have added a new page. We have also adjusted the pre-order numbers for the 3 pre-order games. 05-07-2008 This past week has been devoted to getting the Down In Flames art up to speed. Luckily, Martin Scott has agreed to lend an expert hand and has greatly improved the look of the fighter control panels. He has also agreed to work on the bomber and action card panels. I am very pleased with the new look he has given the cards. You can see the new aircraft cards in the Down In Flames slideshow. We’ve added the first turn of a Down In Flames sample dogfight between a US Marine F4U Corsair and an Imperial Japanese A6M5 Zero. If you haven’t played DIF before, be sure and check it out. If you’ve played the old game, you’ll want to see the newly improved game mechanics and how they work. We have also updated the pre-order numbers. All three games are making progress toward their pre-order target numbers. I’m hoping to have all three games sent to the printer in the next few months. As we did with Rommel, anyone who pre-orders a game will have the option of having his or her name printed on the box. Modern Naval Battles and Alexander continue to have their art worked on, and we’ll have updates for them next week. 04-28-2008 The past week has been devoted to moving all the games a little closer to going to the printer as their pre-order numbers increase. We’ve started layout of the Modern Naval Battles rules, and you can see the work in progress for the first five pages. I thought it would be interesting to watch the stages a rulebook goes through. At this point, the text is in good shape, but will still get another dozen or so editing passes. We have started to lay in the graphics, and have noted where game graphics and examples will be needed. I’ve added a link in the left panel in addition to the plain text rules link. For Down In Flames, we’ve updated the card slide show with more finalized card designs. We’ve also added a few more cards. We’re working on the updated campaign system now. The first thought was to use the original system, but in reviewing the rules, it was very complex and procedure heavy. I think a better, faster-playing design can be created that will make the campaigns more appealing to everyone. We’ve added a few more graphics to the Alexander slide show focusing on siege engines and siege warfare. The campaign map has also been updated. Great news for DVG! – Long-time friend and business associate Marcelo Figueroa has agreed to represent DVG to game distributors worldwide. This is a huge step for us, as it will increase our company’s exposure to gamers and retail stores all over the world. Marcelo just attended the Gama Trade Show in Las Vegas this past week and has already dramatically added to the number of distributors that will be carrying our games. We’ve also updated the launch numbers for the games on pre-order. Thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered, we’re getting close! Many thanks to Felipe Santamaria who was kind enough to translate the Rommel sample game into Spanish! I’ve added a link in the left panel. 04-17-2008 Another Busy Week! We are pleased to announce that one of our favorite designs “Down In Flames” is re-entering the gaming world and is now available for pre-order. We have updated the game to increase aircraft detail and add more player options when playing action cards. If you already own the old version, be sure to check out the “What’s New?” section of the description (otherwise known as: “I already own the old games, why should I buy the new one?”) We have updated the number of pre-orders needed for Alexander and Modern Naval Battles to go to the printer. Our home page has also undergone an upgrade with each of the 3 game types (In Production, Pre-Order, and Vassal/PDF) separated by banners. This will make it easier for visitors to see which games are in the different categories. Also, we are proud and honored that Rommel has almost sold out of its first print run. We have less than 50 copies left in stock and a second print run has already been ordered. Thank you to everyone who ordered the game and the great word of mouth it has received. We are very proud of having to reorder in only 3 weeks. The next print run of games should arrive at the end of May. A few new player testimonials have been added to the testimonials page. Thank you for your kind words! We are in the process of updating the Rommel sample game as some of its rules were changed before the game was published. We should start having the new sections available next week. Thank you, -Dan 04-09-2008 It’s been a very busy week at DVG! All of the Field Commander Rommel pre-orders were mailed out within a few days of the games arriving here, and we are getting very positive feedback. We have added a Player Testimonials page to the site so you can see some of the kind comments we have received. If you’d like to send in a testimonial, we’d be happy to add it to the site. We also started working with a few of the industries great game distributors both in the US and in Europe. This means Rommel will be appearing in retail stores in the next few weeks. Since Rommel is our first game, I contacted retail stores with a promotional offer to introduce our company. Many of them accepted our offer and I sent them two copies of the game, one for demoing and one to sell. The great news is, stores are already re-ordering the game. We’ve updated the Alexander map and slideshow with some new artwork. I am working on a sample game to post soon. You’ll also see a new “Launch Status” added to games. This number shows how many pre-orders the game still needs before it can go to the printer. I’ll update these numbers every week or two. A few players asked for the Rommel Player Log to be made available for download. You can now download the PDF file with the link on the left panel. Many thanks to Felipe Santamaria for translating the Rommel rules into Spanish! If you would like to translate the rules, we will be happy to make them available through our website and give you name credit. Our main email: customerservice@dvg.com gets flooded with spam. If you’d like, you can also email me at: dan (at) dvg (dot) com 03-28-2008 DVG – General Rommel Blitzkriegs California! Dan Verssen Games (DVG) – Glendora, CA - is pleased to announce the arrival our Field Commander Rommel games. We have already started packing them for mailing, and all pre-orders and orders will be in the mail within 24 hours. We look forward to your comments when you receive the game and have a chance to play it. If you would like to send us a testimonial, please do! Include your name the way you’d like it listed. We will be posting them on our web site. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this possible! 03-18-2008 Alexander the Great - News! We are very pleased to announce the second game in our Field Commander series - Alexander the Great. You can see the box front, sample counters, and a map in the Alexander game section. We have also received news from the printer, and we should have Field Commander Rommel in hand at the end of this month. Once they arrive here, we'll start mailing them out. 02-08-2008 MNB-GW Scenario/AAR MNB-GW AAR Added To I've added to the MNB-GW Scenario/AAR document. The Norwegians strike back! We’ve added a few new items to the site this week… Rommel The final Rommel rules have been uploaded as well as the last turn of the sample game. I converted the rules to a lower resolution to keep the file size to a minimum. At printing resolution, they are about 25mb. Here they are less than 1mb. The graphics appear blurry, but the words are readable. MNB-GW For MNB-GW, the sample game has a new turn, and a mock-up of the box front has been posted. We will be accepting pre-order names for the box once we get closer to sending it to the printer. At this point, we are only 50 pre-orders away from going into production. We have also uploaded the revised rules. The next step will be to start the initial rules layout and get it posted. As with the Rommel rules, we appreciate any feedback you might have. We think the Rommel rules were greatly aided by your participation. Future Games We are also gathering quote from printers for the next couple games. With luck, we’ll be able to announce them in a week or two. 02-08-2008 MNB-GW Scenario/AAR MNB-GW AAR Added To I've added to the MNB-GW Scenario/AAR document. The Norwegians strike back! 02-05-2008 Latest DVG News Lots of good news here at DVG! Last week, all the sample components for Rommel were received and approved, credit cards were charged, and the game has entered production. We’re hoping to have the games arrive here in about 45 days. Once we get them, we’ll start shipping them out to everyone. We encountered a problem in our pre-order software that was not separating multiple pre-orders for different games on to different invoices. This has been corrected. Some of you might notice that Rommel appears on your credit card statement as being billed from “Front Page” which is our graphic arts company. This problem should also be resolved on future billing statements and the billing company will be “Dan Verssen Games”. If you pre-ordered with Paypal, the funds were withdrawn at the time you placed the pre-order. I’ve also had some free time to devote to Modern Naval Battles – Global Warfare. You’ll notice a new banner and Scenario/AAR on the site. The game is only about 50 pre-orders away from going into production! In working on the AAR, I was surprised at how well the system lends itself to building hypothetical and historical scenarios. The first AAR is a fictional 1980 WWIII battle between small Soviet and Norwegian fleets. Once the game is published, I hope you send in your own scenarios, and I will add them to the page. We have received overwhelming approval on the idea of giving pre-order people the option to have their name printed on the Rommel box. We will be doing the same for MNB-GW pre-orders. We’ve asked for quotations from the printer on the next wave of games to go up for pre-order. Once we have them back, we’ll announce the next couple games. I’m hoping to be able to announce them next week. 01-30-2008 Great News! I have received pre-production samples for all the Rommel components, and they look awesome! I have given the printer the go ahead to begin production and we will be charging credit cards for Rommel pre-orders in 24 hours. If you’d like to pre-order Rommel, this is your last chance. Once the credit cards are charged, the price will be changed to retail, $39.99. We will also be raising the postage and handling fees. We had to estimate those, and we came in a little low. I will be announcing the new games to go on the pre-order list in a week on the www.dvg.com website. 01-17-2008 Rommel Update! The printer has confirmed the Rommel files look good for printing and they are proceeding with a printed sample. I should receive the sample late next week, if it looks good, the printing will start. Once I give final approval of the sample, we’ll start charging credit cards and the game will be moved from “Pre-Order” status to “Produced” status, and the pre-order price will no longer be available. If you have pre-ordered the game, thank you! Please check your mailing address and credit card information on our website to make sure it is up to date. If you haven’t pre-ordered, this is your last chance to take advantage of the pre-order discount. 01-08-2008 Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a great holiday season! The design work on Rommel has been completed, and we are talking with the printer to make sure our files are properly formated for their printing process. I will post a notification here in the News section as well as in our Newsletter when we send the files. At that time we'll begin charging credit cards. If you think your credit card or mailing address information might be out of date, please visit your account and make any needed updates. Once Rommel is safely in production, we'll announce our next set of pre-order games. Thank you all for a great 2007, and we look forward to an even better 2008! 12-05-2007 The Better, the Bad, and the Good… Last Tuesday, I was running through each of the 3 Rommel campaigns one last time to check for any last minute issues. I completed Ghost Division and had taken a break before playing North Africa when an idea occurred. The Allied Resupply die roll plays a major roll in a campaign’s difficult, yet the player has little control over it. If the rolls bring in few Allies, the campaign gets easier even though the player did nothing to shift the balance of the game. On the other hand, if the rolls bring in many Allies, the campaign gets harder even though the player did nothing wrong. So I decided to even out the new forces and supplies so there is variety, but not a difference in quantity. Holly also came up with an easier way to handle Allied movement. By the way, such last second changes are very common in my design phases. This leads to some stress, but I think it’s worth it overall. It would be great if ideas like this that make the games better happened earlier in the cycle, but they appear when they appear. Although sometimes it does get a bit carried away. Years ago when we were working on Flagship, we actually have photos of me at the printer, editing the card files the day they were put on press. I went back to the computer to update the Ghost map to start a new play test cycle. When the Rommel folder opened, it was empty. My stomach lurched. I closed the folder, and re-opened it. Still empty. I started to panic when I realized my last backup of the folder was 6 months ago. A lot has changed in 6 months. I restarted the computer. Still empty. At the time, I had no idea if it was a virus slowly eating my drive, a one-time hardware failure, or a growing hardware failure. I quickly opened a few other folders. Some folders were healthy and some were empty. A pattern quickly developed. Folders with files that I had used recently were empty. Very bad news. I started a backup of the drive, thinking I needed to save everything I could. Normally, a backup takes 1.5 hours. This one took 10.5 hours due to the slow downs from the bad disk sectors. It was able to save the healthy folders, but none of the empty ones. I then ran GetBackData, which took 5 hours. In the end, it was able to recover maybe 95% of the files from the empty folders, including all the Rommel files. So after a week of terror, DVG is once again underway and hoping to send the Rommel files to the printer in about a week. 11-13-2007 General News I've uploaded the latest Rommel rules. Both layout and content are almost finished! I'm going to give it one more playtest pass to make sure all the campaigns look good, and that should about do it. Thank you for all the feedback! I've also uploaded the back of box graphic that includes all the names sent in to date. 10-31-2007 General News You can take a look at the revised Rommel rules by clicking the link on the left panel of the DVG site, or this link... http://images.dvg.com/www.dvg.com/RommelRules.pdf Layout for the rules is underway, but not yet finished. I still need to add a few things and move some stuff around. If you see any sections that need improved wording or more explanation, send me your comments in the next day or two. Also, another reminder about emailing me if you've pre-ordered Rommel and would like your name on the box. I've uploaded an updated box bottom showing the back cover and flaps with the names so far. 10-26-2007 Rommel Rules v2 You can take a look at the revised Rommel rules by clicking the link to the left. Layout is underway, but not yet finished. I still need to add a few things and move some stuff around. If you see any sections that need improved wording or more explanation, send me your comments in the next day or two. 10-21-2007 Rommel Rules v1 I just uploaded the first version of the Rommel rules (see the link below). It's been a big week. Hornet Leader PC has launched, and is getting great feedback from the players. If you'd like to take a look, the website is: www.matrixgames.com Sorry about sending out the wrong URL for Matrix Games in the last newsletter. But for those of you who were looking for quality hair care products, it probably worked out okay. :-) Work on Rommel is moving forward. I hope to post the first complete draft of the rules in a coupel days. My plan is to post the rules in 3 waves to give everyone as much feedback time as possible. Wave #1 will be the bare bones rules, just text. Wave #2 will include examples and other add-ons. Wave #3 will include art and the final layout. I have also posted a revised set of rules for MNB-GW. Thank you James for going through them! 10-06-2007 Rommel Box Mock-Ups I just added the mocked-up graphics for the front cover and back cover of the Rommel box. See the link on the left. 10-04-2007 Rommel Pre-Order Names... I thought it would be cool to list the names of everyone who pre-ordered the game on the 4 box sides of the box bottom as a special "Thank You" for supporting our company. These sides will only be seen when the box is opened. To do this though, I need you to give your permission. If you've pre-ordered, or are pre-ordering, Rommel. please send me an email stating it is okay to use your name, and your name as you would like it to appear. As an example, your email would read... "Yes, it is okay to print my name, 'Fred Smith', on the Rommel box." 9-24-2007 General DVG News... Good news to report! Several games are now moving forward. Hornet Leader-PC is pretty much done and we'll be turning in the final build this week. This has given me some free time to move Rommel forward.
